A Learning Strategist can help you learn well by developing effective study skills, habits, and practical strategies to be successful in your academics and thrive at U of T. Here’s a message from our Trinity Learning Strategist this year:
My name is Heather Nelson (she/they), and I am your Trinity College Learning Strategist!
I’m a proud alum of the University of Toronto with a passion for supporting students in their holistic learning journeys. With over 15 years of experience in education and being a trained professional coach, I bring both knowledge and care to the work I do. I’m currently studying to become a psychotherapist, which further shapes the way I approach student support – with curiosity, compassion, and an emphasis on your whole self. My goal is to create a safe, encouraging space where we can explore strategies that fit your unique learning style and help you reach the goals that matter most to you.

I offer one-on-one appointments held online via Zoom and in-person at the Academic Resource Centre (lower level of the main Trinity Building). To book an appointment, log into Folio using your UTORid: . Topics we can discuss include:
Throughout the academic year, I will also be working closely with the TrinOne program and other academic programs at Trinity College and U of T, building resources to address challenges that students are experiencing. If you have an idea for a workshop, or if there’s something that you need that doesn’t exist yet, please get in touch and we can work together to build it!
I’m here to help, so if there’s anything you need, please feel free to reach out by booking an appointment on or by sending an email.
